I noticed I wasn’t feeling too wonderful this past Monday evening. Having Lyme disease, sometimes it is difficult to differentiate between a Lyme flare-up and an actual illness, and because I wasn’t entirely sure of what was going on, I figured it would be best to wait until the following morning to proceed with any course of action.
I didn’t make it to the following morning before realizing that what I was experiencing was not a Lyme thing, but instead a virus. After doing some Googling, I came to the conclusion that I have Norovirus, and my God, it is not a fun time.
I started experiencing body aches and pains, fever, shooting pains through my head, and severe stomach cramps on Monday evening, and they had not let up by the following morning or evening, for that matter. Anytime I tried to eat or drink something, the horrible pains in my stomach would return, and then I found myself unable to leave the toilet for an extended period of time. It escalated to the point I was curled up in the fetal position on the bathroom floor, only able to haul myself up to actually use the toilet again.
I’m doing my best to keep hydrated, but this is difficult because when I drink water, the agonizing cramps return in my gut. I am sincerely hoping this bout of Norovirus passes sooner rather than later, and allow me to say I truly feel for anyone else who has been affected by this miserable virus. I’m sincerely hoping I don’t give it to anyone, specifically Blaine. Our dog Lenny and our cat Lionel have kept me company for most of the day, beside me in bed.
If you find yourself sick with Norovirus, be sure to keep hydrated as best you can and rest. It is no joke.
