Do ear scope cleaners actually work?

In yesterday’s post discussing earwax and what to do if you find yourself in the midst of a buildup, I mentioned that I recently purchased an earwax-cleaning device via Amazon. It arrived, and now that I’ve had a chance to test it out, I figured I would share my findings with all of you.

The LMECHN Earwax Removal Tool retails for $25 and comes equipped with seven different attachments to use. The instructions advise you to download the LMECHN app, which I did, and the purpose of the app is to see inside your own ear while you’re using the tool because there is a camera on its end.

The thing is cool for sure, and while I can’t say I’ve ever had an overwhelming desire to see inside of my own ears, this device certainly allows for such an observation.

The tool works. It was a little tricky trying to figure out how to position the tool inside my ear to best see where the wax buildup was, but I managed, and the camera on it is of quite decent quality. I managed to get a decent amount of wax out, but the camera did enable me to recognize I have wax buildup quite deep within my ear canals, and because I don’t feel like bursting my own eardrum, I decided to play it safe and leave the worst of it for an actual professional to tackle.

On that note, some people might think this product wasn’t worth buying for me, personally. I’m inclined to agree, however, this tool can be used in a variety of contexts, and I figure it’s a neat little tool to have on hand if I ever need to see within a tight or cramped space that I can’t fit in myself. The instructions also explain how this product can be used on pets, so I figure I might yet get my use out of it.
