Yes, the Crescent City books really are worth reading

If you read the title of today’s post and found yourself a wee bit confused, I can’t say I blame you. A little while ago, I wrote a post about the first book in Sarah J. Maas’ Crescent City series, said book being titled House of Earth and Blood. For context, Maas is responsible for writing three of the most popular book series currently circulating the romantasy realm – the A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) series, the Throne of Glass (TOG) series, and the Crescent City (CC) series. I read ACOTAR and TOG long before I ever delved into CC, and my reasoning for abstaining from starting CC was a result of hearing such poor reviews regarding the books.

ACOTAR and TOG are two of the most incredible series I have ever read, and they’re right up there with Harry Potter – for anyone who knows me seriously, any book that is comparable in rank to the Harry Potter books is a damn good one. Seeing as everything I had read by Maas literally blew my fucking mind, I just couldn’t figure out the disdain for her CC books.

I’ve finished House of Earth and Blood and am now reading House of Sky and Breath. These books are absolutely just as incredible as Maas’ other two series, and I’m here to speak my truth and shut down any bullshit that the CC books aren’t worth reading, because they positively are.

The last third of House of Earth and Blood tickled every literary desire one could ask for while reading a book, and the emotional impact of this book has me shook. I finished it over a week ago and still cannot stop thinking about it, and if you’re a romantasy fan, please, please do not believe CC books aren’t as good as other works by Maas, because they absolutely are.
