If you are someone who ensures you are up to speed in regards to the cosmetic industry’s latest trends and fads, it should come as no surprise to you that 2016 is the year of the highlight. With top cosmetic brands such as Becca, Anastasia, Hourglass, Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown all promoting their own versions of highlighters, plus countless others (check out Sephora.com if you’re curious), it can be difficult to come across a highlighting product that remains within your budget.
If you are unfamiliar with what a highlighter is in terms of makeup, it is a product that can be produced in a liquid, powder or cream formula, and adds a dewy glow to skin, ‘highlighting’ facial features such as cheekbones, brow bones, the cupid’s bow and the nose in the process. It is a beautiful effect when applied correctly, and it is a perfect way to top off a makeup look with the warmer months approaching.
I personally am not one to spend $60.00 on a highlighter, so when I heard that the Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips All-in-1 Custom Nude Palette for Face & Eyes was a drugstore dupe for a lot of luxury highlighters, I went out and purchased it for myself. I purchased my palette in the shade Warm Nude, and it retails for $17.00. The product itself is hypoallergenic, paraben free, gluten free, non-comedogenic and dermatologist approved.
Not only does this product have two purposes, considering it can be used as a highlight for the face as well as a shadow palette for the eyes, but it is absolutely stunning in its colour when applied to the skin. It is a powder consistency, but it blends beautifully (I recommend applying the product with either a fan brush or a highlight brush). It stays put for 5+ hours, and the glow does not fade for me personally.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for an affordable yet high quality highlighter. If you try it out, let me know how it goes!
