Product Review: NYX Micro Brow Pencil

Eyebrows have become a thing of significance in recent years within the beauty industry. Words such as ‘fleek’ and ‘sculpted’ are being used to refer to the appearance of one’s eyebrows, both terms having a positive connotation, and it seems as though there is more pressure now than ever before to have great brows.

When I first began making use of makeup, I was told by my sister that the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz was the holy grail of eyebrow products. I trusted my sister’s opinion in regards to makeup, and I still do, so I purchased such product for myself. The Brow Wiz was and is an incredible product for sculpting and adding definition and volume to your eyebrows, but it is quite costly, retailing for almost $30.00 in Sephora. So, I began to do my research in hopes of finding a different brow product that was cheaper in price, and I stumbled across the Micro Brow Pencil by NYX.

The Micro Brow Pencil by NYX comes in a variety of different shades, such shades being blonde, brunette, chocolate, espresso and taupe, and I personally use the shade taupe. Although I am naturally blonde, I prefer my eyebrows to be darker than my hair, so the taupe shade works perfectly for my preference. It retails for $12.00 in most drugstores, meaning it is less than half the cost of the Anastasia Brow Wiz, and I think it performs just as effectively.

The NYX Brow Pencil comes with a spoolie on one end, which is used to comb through brow hairs prior to applying the coloured pencil, and of course the pencil on the other end. The pencil is super fine, meaning it is easy to use, and its intense pigmentation yet creamy consistency allows for it  to be applied as heavily or as lightly as you desire. It does not cause your brows to appear cartoonish, nor is it so subtle you cannot see a difference in the volume of your brows once you have used it. It is a really great product for eyebrows, and I highly recommend checking it out!
