Product Review: Clinique’s Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion

It is rare for me to be able to say with confidence that I have been completely and totally dedicated to using a particular cosmetic product. I am quite picky when it comes to what I apply to my face, therefore when I do come across something that seemingly agrees with my skin and presents positive results, I tend to stick to using it.

The Clinique Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion is a component of Clinique’s three-step acne regime. Their acne line features a foaming cleanser, the clarifying lotion and a moisturizer, however after experimenting with all three I came to the realization that the lotion is what works best for me and my skin personally.

Despite the name, this product is actually a toner, not a lotion. According to its description on Spehora.com, it is “A gentle, medicated lotion that exfoliates, unclogs pores, and helps reduce excess oil”. It contains salicylic acid, a common ingredient in a majority of acne-fighting cosmetic products, and retails for $20.00. I love this product because it helps to control my oily skin without drying it out, a combination that can be tricky to come across in acne products. I apply it to my face right after it has been washed with a cotton pad, and it often removes dirt and makeup that my face wash did not entirely cleanse from my skin. Be sure to use a moisturizer with this product, even if you have oily skin, because its medicinal ingredients certainly have the ability to dry skin out, specifically around the eye and mouth regions. I use the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, which is also an exceptional product, but I will save that review for another day.

This product is available both in-store and online at Sephora as well as Shopper’s Drug Mart, Sears and The Bay. I recommend this product to persons suffering from acne/oily skin – if you try it out, let me know how it works for you!
