My sister was kind enough to send me an email a couple of days ago with some information pertaining to Jennifer Lawrence and her reasoning behind taking a year off from acting. My sister sent me this information in hopes of inspiring a blog post, and here we are!
According to an article by Ellie Davis posted on vogue.com, Jennifer Lawrence has expressed her decision to take a one-year break from Hollywood in order to pursue her interest in encouraging young people to be passionate about politics.
Lawrence is in the midst of promoting her most recent film, Red Sparrow, and in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she explained she will be taking a year off from acting as she hopes to work with an organization called Represent.Us. and encourage younger individuals to participate in local politics.
She stated, “It doesn’t have anything to do with partisan [politics]. It’s just anti-corruption and stuff trying to pass state by state laws that can help prevent corruption, fix our democracy.”
Lawrence has continually demonstrated her passion for feminism and gender equality, and she founded the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation in an attempt to support charities that aid young people and generate awareness and participation within and towards the arts.
Lawrence has also expressed interest in taking up pottery during her break.
I am definitely a fan of Lawrence, and I find her to be incredibly realistic and further genuine both as an actress and as a person. I respect her decision to take a personal break from Hollywood in order to pursue her own passions and interests, and I am sure she will be welcomed back when she decides to return. I find her reasoning behind temporarily leaving Hollywood to be inspiring, and I think it communicates her personal values and passions. Way to go, JLaw.
