With Mother’s Day Approaching, perhaps you’re feeling the pressure to find your mom the perfect gift to show her how much you appreciate her. While the sentiment is genuine, Mother’s Day gifts really don’t have to cost you an arm and a leg, especially if they’re homemade. From my own experience with my mom, handmade gifts are always a win, and the time, thought and effort that homemade gifts require often take precedence over that gift you picked up last minute on your way to your parents’ place for dinner.
If you’re really stumped as to what to give your mom, try taking the time to sit down and write your mom a heartfelt letter. Explain to her what it is that makes you thankful for the fact that she’s your mom, and don’t be afraid to get detailed. The smallest personal touches can make a world of difference, and I guarantee your mom will be thrilled with something so genuine.
Baking is also a great option for Mother’s Day gifts, specifically if you whip up your mom’s favourite dessert. If desserts aren’t your mom’s thing, surprise her with a homemade meal. Provide her with the opportunity to relax and enjoy her day, and top everything off by cleaning up afterward.
If you’re feeling artsy, there are many DIY crafts you can dabble with to create a Mother’s Day gift this year. Whether it be a decorated photo frame featuring a photo of the two of you together, a goofy scrapbook, or even some painted flowerpots, the personal touches you add to whatever it is you’re creating will capture your mom’s heart.
Mother’s Day is about celebrating and appreciating mom’s, not about stressing over what to get them. Take a creative approach to your gift this year. I’m sure your mom will adore whatever it is you give her.
