Product Review: Essence’s The False Lashes Mascara Extreme Volume and Curl

Mascara is one of my best friends. I rarely leave the house without a few strokes of the wand against my eyelashes, and for me personally, I find mascara to be one of the most effective ways to wake up tired-looking eyes.

I have been using my Covergirl mascara for quite a while now, and as much as I love it, sometimes I’m in the mood to try something new. So, when I was at Shopper’s Drugmart a few days ago, I decided to pick up Essence’s The False Lashes Mascara Extreme Volume and Curl (it’s only $5.00. I know).

I was pretty hesitant towards how exactly this mascara would apply and further wear throughout the day considering how inexpensive it is, but I was pleasantly surprised. This mascara gives a decent amount of length and volume to the eyes, and it honestly does a better job than a few luxury mascaras I have tried in the past. I wouldn’t say I was thoroughly impressed with the length and volume this product created, and I definitely find my Covergirl mascara to be better suited to my own preferences, but again, for only $5 bucks, this stuff is pretty damn good.

The wand is a tad bulky, making it difficult to coat lashes in the inner and outer corners of the eyes, so if you do decide to give it a whirl be mindful when applying it. I found it to begin to transfer to my upper lid about halfway through the day, but this happens with most mascaras I try because I have very oily skin. I would imagine that a basic eyelid primer would prevent this transfer from occurring.

Overall, this is a decent mascara, and the price is unbeatable. Essence has a ton of different mascaras, as well as other makeup products, so check them out if you ever have some free time.
