Product review: Dove Dryness & Itch Relief Anti-Dandruff Shampoo and Conditioner

Dandruff has never been something that has been an issue for me, up until the past year or so. Rather, I struggled more with oily hair, therefore a dry scalp was never on my radar.

Wouldn’t you know, within the past year I’ve been experiencing dandruff and a dry, itchy scalp. I read once that the composition of our hair changes every seven years, so perhaps that’s the reasoning behind it. Either way, I was tired of scratching and looking like I walked through a snowy meadow, so I went out and purchased the Dove Dryness & Itch Relief Anti-Dandruff Shampoo and Conditioner.

I have to say, this stuff exceeded my expectations when I purchased it. Within one wash my hair was significantly better in terms of dry scalp and irritation, and continued use only made my hair stronger and showed improvement. I’ve been using the shampoo and conditioner combo for a few months now, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

This stuff is incredibly affordable, and it’s available at most drug stores. It is pH balanced and contains zinc to soothe dry, flaky skin, and the coconut and shea butter scent is quite lovely. There are several variations of this dandruff line in terms of scent, so you should be able to find one that best appeals to your schnoz.

It also won an Allure Best of Beauty in 2017, so it’s arguable that this stuff will work for most people.

This duo is also great for combatting frizzy hair, which is how my hair tends to get when the cold weather approaches. It replenishes moisture without making my hair oily, a combination you don’t often come across in hair products.

Dandruff isn’t a great thing to deal with, but it’s certainly manageable. See if this line from Dove works for you.
