Skincare is something that is relevant to many of us. As the saying goes, we only get one set of skin, so it’s wise to invest in it and care for it as best we can.
As important as skincare is, it’s unfortunately rather expensive to practice an effective skincare routine. A majority of beneficial skin products are not exactly affordable, ultimately forcing a lot of us to pinch our pennies and settle for something a little more mediocre in terms of cost.
Thus begs the question: is skincare worth splurging?
To be entirely honest, I’m not able to properly answer that question, the reason being that because we all have different skin I can’t say for certain which products may be worth spending big bucks on versus others. But, for the most part, I’d say you’re better off spending a little bit extra on a product that’s been proven to work as opposed to a middle of the road product that might work for you.
By no means am I attempting to suggest that your entire skincare routine must consist of products from Dior, Marc Jacobs and Estée Lauder. But, having one or two items of the high end rank for specific purposes isn’t a waste of money, in my opinion. In fact, you’re likely going to end up using less of a higher end product than you would of a satisfactory one, potentially leading to savings over time.
I’m pretty frugal, and I’m not one to go nuts in Sephora and purchase the best of the best. There are, however, items in both my skincare and makeup routines that are pretty costly, but I don’t mind because I know they’re ideal for my own skin and its concerns.
Skincare doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg, but in the long run, it’s better to invest than it is to settle.
