Have yourself a merry little Christmas

Well, it’s finally here. They day so many of us have long awaited for, anticipating its arrival with eagerness and excitement.

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish anyone who is reading this a truly wonderful Christmas, spent with loved ones, family and friends. While I commend you for reading this today, I sincerely hope you’re able to take advantage of your time and make the most of it.

Everyone has their own personal traditions and celebrations for Christmas, but in my family, we like to keep things simple. Our family runs at a rather quick pace throughout the year because of the farm, so once winter rolls around, we like to take advantage of the slower season, as many farmers do. For us, Christmas day involves sleeping in a little bit, followed by a nice breakfast at home and then hanging out around the tree, opening gifts and listening to some tunes. The rest of the day is spent rather lazily, slowly getting things together for a Christmas dinner with my Opa whom we pick up from Hamilton and bring back to the farm for the day.

Christmas day for our family is pretty lowkey, but that’s my favourite way to spend it. No hassle, no rushing or chaos, just peace and happiness spent with my loved ones. And, based on my own observations and conversations with others, low key is a preference when it comes to Christmas Day.

Whatever your plans are for today, I hope they’re inclusive of those who mean the most to you in your life. So many people aren’t able to spend Christmas with their loved ones, but for those of us who are able to, it’s a blessing we unconsciously take for granted every year. Be grateful today and everyday, and merry Christmas.
