Plants are kind of a big thing in my family. My mom has a tremendous green thumb and about 30 plants to boot, and my sister has quite a collection of her own.
I’ve been trying to expand my plant repertoire, but I’ve always been somewhat hesitant to do so because of my tendency to kill any plant I purchase. I’m getting a little better, but there is definitely room for improvement.
Because my sister and my mom have a distinct passion for all things green, my sister wanted to bring my mom to Terra greenhouses in Hamilton, and I decided to tag along to seem some much needed green in the midst of winter. We weren’t really sure of what to expect as this was our first time visiting, but we were certainly impressed with the facilities.
Terra is, first and foremost, absolutely massive. We were completely ignorant to how big this place is, but when we pulled up and observed greenhouse after greenhouse, we quickly came to the realization that we were going to be spending a little bit of time inside.
In regards to the plants they sell, Terra carries annuals, hanging baskets, patio planters, perennials, tropicals, trees, seeds, vegetables and herbs. In addition to the endless plants inside, Terra also sells quite a bit of home decor as well as ladies clothing, some patio sets, furniture and fountains.
Needless to say, there’s something for everyone in this place.
I ended up purchasing a few pots, a beautiful succulent arrangement, and a snake plant. The prices are reasonable, and we found the staff to be very knowledgeable and helpful.
If you have a passion for plants and you haven’t been to Terra, check it out. Give yourself plenty of time to make sure you don’t miss anything, and be prepared to leave with more than what you came for.
