So, do zit patches actually work? Click here to find out

I was reading a Buzzfeed article not too long ago listing some of the best beauty and hygiene products that Amazon has to offer. Sometimes, the products featured in these sorts of articles can be pretty neat, so I tend to scroll through them from time to time.

One of the items the article recommended was a patch to stick to skin overtop a zit, the idea being that the patch sucks out bacteria and other shit from the pimple as you wear it. I decided to check out the reviews, and after seeing how positive they were for this particular brand, I decided to order it and give it a shot.

I purchased Hero Cosmetic’s Mighty Patch Hydrocolloid Acne Absorbing Spot Dot from Amazon, and after using these patches for a couple of days, I wanted to give an honest review of them. You get 36 patches for $25, which isn’t super cheap but also not super expensive, and is arguably cheaper than most high-end luxury acne spot treatments on the current market. It is recommended to wear the patches for a minimum of six hours, or until they turn white, which means they have successfully removed the contents of the pimple from your skin.

These puppies are great for whiteheads, but not so effective for blackheads, cystic acne, or under-the-skin pimples that haven’t yet reached their head. I tried a few patches on some whiteheads, and one was essentially gone after wearing the patch overnight to bed. I tried using more than one patch on other types of zits but they weren’t nearly as effective as they are for whiteheads.

Overall, I do recommend this product, but again, mainly for whiteheads. The patches themselves are clear and aren’t overly visible on the skin, and they cover a decent area. There are a few different versions of these patches available via Amazon, so if I try any others, I’ll be sure to let you know.
