I’m not someone who typically watches Marvel movies. I don’t have anything against them, per say, I’ve just never really been into the whole superhero comic book realm sort of thing.
That being said, I did recently watch a Marvel movie that I really enjoyed, and I have no shame in admitting that the main reason I opted to watch it is because this particular film stars Tom Hardy, who I happen to have an astounding crush on.
Venom “… is a 2018 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character of the same name, produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel[5] and Tencent Pictures. Distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, it is the first film in the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters. Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a screenplay by Jeff Pinkner, Scott Rosenberg, and Kelly Marcel, it stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock / Venom, alongside Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, and Reid Scott. In Venom, journalist Brock gains superpowers after becoming the host of an alien symbiote whose species plans to invade Earth,” the movie’s Wikipedia Page explains.
I was surprised when I read the reviews for this movie, because they’re rather terrible. A lot of folks did not think this movie was well done, but I disagree; I found the movie to be rather hilarious, and the dynamic between Hardy and Venom, his symbiote buddy, is fantastic.
A lot of people did mention in their reviews that this film is a bit slow in terms of plot for the first half of the movie, and this I do agree with. I felt as though the first half of the movie dragged on a wee bit, but the second half is packed with action.
I absolutely recommend Venom to anyone who hasn’t seen it. It’s witty, exciting, amusing, and the special effects are pretty insane, too.

Venom and A Star Is Born came out the same weekend. I don’t usually go to the movies that often but I happened to go see both. A Star Is Born ended up winning a bunch of awards and all that, but my initial feelings when I walked out of the theaters was that I enjoyed Venom waaaay more.
