Have you tried Duolingo?

As of late, Duolingo has somewhat taken the language world by storm. If you haven’t heard of it, not to worry – I’ll fill you in to the best of my ability. I just heard about this app a few months ago, and because I’ve always to be able to speak Spanish to be able to converse and communicate better with our migrant farm workers from Mexico, I thought it would be worth giving it a try.

Duolingo is free to download and use, although if you would prefer to use an ad-free version that offers more tools and functions, there is a version of the app you can pay for. I’m sticking with the free version because it works just fine for me, and I imagine it will be for you as well.

This program offers quite a few different languages to learn, and it is rather simple to use. You can configure settings in the app to prompt you to use the app for however long of duration you so please on a daily basis, and while these reminders can become a bit annoying, they’re useful in the sense they motivate you to keep your learning streak going.

I’ve tried a few other language programs in the past, one of them being Babble, and Duolingo is arguably the best I have used in terms of how well the app functions to assist you in slowly learning a new language. I haven’t found it to be overwhelming, or progressing too quickly, and while I doubt Duolingo will enable me to become entirely fluent in Spanish, it’s certainly going to improve the limited Spanish language knowledge I currently possess.

I honestly enjoy using Duolingo, and I look forward to my 10-minute sessions. I’m looking forward to seeing just how much I can learn from this app.
