Christmas is coming (said in the voice of John Snow), and with it comes all sorts of shiny lights and adorable decorative pieces a lot of us dig out of our dungeons to spread across our homes around this time of year. Personally, my Christmas decoration collection is looking a little sad as this year will be the first Christmas I haven’t spent in my parent’s house – my mom has a solid array of Christmas decor, and while I have a little, imma need some time to build up my collection.
A lot of us dabble in craft-making this time of year, and while arts and crafts may not be for everyone, DIY projects are a fantastic way to broaden one’s creativity, and they’re a great option for anyone wanting to spruce their home up without blowing the bank. I thought I would share some DIY Christmas decoration ideas with all of you to spread some Christmas cheer and originality, and these ideas come from countryliving.com.
“Ornament Trees
- So shiny and bright and festive, you will proudly display these sparkling beauties year after year.
- To make: Cover Styrofoam cones (we used 12- and 15-inch cones) with ornaments, attaching them with hot-glue. Start with larger ornaments at the bottom, transitioning to smaller ones as you work your way up. Fill in any gaps with mini ornament balls. If desired, wrap the finished trees with vintage tinsel and beaded garland.
DIY Tobacco Basket Wreath
- A rustic tobacco basket, fresh greenery, and bright berries speak to tradition, while an oversize checked bow adds a touch of cheerful pattern. Use floral wire to fasten greenery in a neat bunch, and add pine cone accents.
DIY Door Bells
- Hang these ‘bells,’ made from mini Bundt pans and molds on the front door or over the mantel.
- To make: Stack mini molds and Bundt pans to form bell shapes; affix together using epoxy. Hot-glue small ornaments to the bottom to create the clappers. Glue ribbon loops and a bow to the top for hanging. Add a swag of greenery, if desired,” the web page states.
