Do yourself a favour and don’t watch ‘Those Who Wish Me Dead’

A couple of nights ago, Blaine, in typical fashion, selected something for us to watch via Netflix. I’m pretty sure I was in the process of writing a blog while he was trying to pick something to watch, which is probably why I didn’t think much of a movie he ended up choosing called Those Who Wish Me Dead. We watched it, but I can tell you in full confidence I doubt I ever will again.

This movie stars Angelina Jolie as Hannah, a firefighter, Finn Little as Connor, a young boy, Jake Weber as Owen, Connor’s father, Jon Bernthal as a local Sheriff, Nicholas Hoult as Patrick and Aiden Gillen as Jack. The movie begins with Patrick and Jack visiting the home of the District Attorney pretending to be gas fitters. They inform the DA’s wife of the leak, advise her and her family to leave, leave themselves, and blow the home along with its occupants to absolute smithereens. Next, you’re introduced to Owen and Connor, with Owen working in finances for some very important people. Owen made some significant findings in his work, and after he figures out he is the next target of Jack and Patrick’s after the DA, he and his son flee in an attempt to escape.

I won’t outright spoil the entire film for you in case you would like to watch it, but allow me to advise you against it. This movie was painfully slow in terms of plot build-up, and honestly, I found the overall plot to be rather shitty and not interesting at all.

Jolie’s character doesn’t really fit in with the rest of the cast and characters, in my opinion, and overall, Blaine and I found this movie to be a bit of a dumpster fire. It’s shit, put plainly, and it is not worth watching.
