Read this before you use Niacinamide

I composed a post a short while ago discussing niacinamide and some reasons as to why one might use it, either topically and/or via supplement. I wasn’t overly savvy with all things niacinamide prior to writing a post about it, but after I learned a little more about it and some of the benefits it can offer, I thought I would try my hand at using it both topically and orally.

I do encourage you to read my post about niacinamide that I linked above, but to provide you with the cliff notes version, it is often used to help combat acne. It is an ingredient in a variety of skincare products, and because I still deal with acne at the age of 28, I deemed it appropriate to purchase a primer containing niacinamide, as well as some supplements.

I started breaking out shortly after using both the primer and the pills. I figured my skin was purging, which is rather normal when you’re trying out a new skincare product, and gave it a couple of weeks. I wasn’t noticing any improvement, though, so I figured I would do a bit of research and see if I could find some answers.

As it turns out, niacinamide is not something that will cause your skin to purge, and if you find yourself breaking out while using it, it more than likely just doesn’t agree with you. I’m not a medical expert, but this is what happened to me, as well as some other people from what I could gather in my research, and I’m glad I didn’t wait any longer to do some fact-checking or hold out hope that my skin would eventually clear up.

So, for anyone wondering, niacinamide can work wonders for some people and wreak havoc on others in the context of acne.
