If anyone would like to take this opportunity to applaud me for composing such a delightfully witty and whimsical title for today’s post, now is your chance.
Now that we have gotten that out of the way, let’s get into it, shall we?
I’m not a huge cake eater. I do like cake, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t find myself craving cake all that often. I do love me anything birthday cake flavoured, but again, I’d rather eat birthday cake-flavoured ice cream or Oreos as opposed to an actual birthday cake.
When I was grocery shopping a few days ago, I spotted an item in the baking area on sale, and because I’m a cheap fuck, I instinctively stopped to check it out. The item in question was Betty Crocker Mug Treats, and shockingly, they ended up in my cart.
I grabbed the chocolate flavour as well as the birthday cake, naturally, and thus far, I’ve sampled the birthday cake flavour. Considering I don’t particularly love cake, I have to say these mug cakes are delicious, and they’re the perfect portion as well.
They’re incredibly easy to make; you pour the dry contents into a mug, add three tablespoons of either water or milk (I used water), mix until blended, and microwave for one to one-and-a-half minutes. Once the cake batter has risen to nearly the top of the mug, you pour the icing over top, let sit for two minutes, and voila – you have yourself a mini cake right inside a mug.
I do find the birthday cake flavour to be a little on the sweet side, but it’s still tasty as hell, and I am looking forward to trying the chocolate flavour as well.
If you’re like me and enjoy cake from time to time, consider trying out these mug cakes. I doubt you will be disappointed.
