A couple of evenings ago, I made a dish for dinner for Blaine and I that I’ve prepared a handful of times before. I was pleasantly surprised when Blaine, upon finishing eating, went for seconds and told me that this particular dinner was phenomenal, and furthermore, that he always thoroughly enjoys this dish when I make it. Given Blaine’s appreciation of this concoction, I thought it would only be fair to share it with all of you in case anyone else would like to try it out.
Lauren’s honey garlic mac and cheese
You will need (to serve two people)
- Two honey garlic sausages, raw
- One tbsp of olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- One tbsp of paprika
- One bag of noodles of your choosing (I use bowtie)
- One tbsp of hot pepper oil
- Three tbsp of Cheese Whiz
- More salt and pepper
- 1/4 cup of grated parmesan cheese
Directions
- Take your sausages, and with your fingernail, poke a hole in the casings. Remove the sausage from the casings and set aside.
- In a frying pan, warm your olive oil, add your salt and pepper and paprika, and your sausage. Cook on medium heat and allow to brown, breaking the sausage up into small pieces in the process.
- While the sausage is cooking, bring a pot of water, lightly salted, to a boil. Once boiling, turn the heat down to medium and add your noodles, stirring every few minutes.
- Once your noodles are al dente, strain them and put them back in the same pot, leaving about two tbsp of pasta water behind. Add your hot pepper oil, your Cheese Whiz, salt and pepper and stir regularly until the cheese has melted. Add your sausage and your parmesan, mix well, and serve.
I know honey garlic and mac and cheese don’t necessarily seem like a pair that would work well together, but in this dish, they most certainly do. Enjoy!
