This past June marked mine and Blaine’s first wedding anniversary. We agreed, back in June, that we would go out and enjoy a lovely dinner to celebrate; fast-forward to present-day September, almost October, and we still haven’t gotten around to commemorating our first wedding anniversary.
That is, until this past weekend.
We agreed that our delay was becoming embarrassing, so I booked a reservation at Fume RestoBar in Brantford, Ontario. Neither Blaine nor I had been, but some of our friends have as well as my parents, and they all said their experience was great, so we figured it was a good pick.
We were seated promptly (we had a reservation) and our server was at our table within minutes with some water and asking to take any drink orders. Their menu isn’t too big, but there is plenty of selection, with everything from a burger to smoked boar.
I ordered the shrimp tacos and Blaine had fish and chips. My tacos were absolutely stellar – healthy-sized battered shrimp served in what I figure to be homemade corn tortillas and topped with cabbage and avocado. Blaine said his fish was excellent, as were his french fries.
Fume is not a large restaurant, and it was busy the entire time we were there, so I absolutely recommend booking a reservation as we did. I was able to book one without any issue using their online booking service, which is linked directly on their website. Their atmosphere and menu is not what I would deem formal, but I wouldn’t deem it casual, either – business casual perhaps, and the decor of the dining area itself is modern and tasteful.
Some of their items are pricey, but overall, their food is reasonably priced. The service, food and experience were all stellar, and I absolutely recommend visiting Fume if you haven’t yet.
