Never did I think I would come across a food establishment on Christmas day to review, but I suppose stranger things have happened.
Backtracking a little bit, but this past Christmas, Blaine and I found ourselves in a bit of a pickle. We were visiting Blaine’s parents and left later than we anticipated, and because I didn’t really have anything on hand to prepare for dinner once we got home, we agreed we would have to try and find a place open to eat.
Initially, we tried McDonald’s, but they were closed. In the same plaza, however, there is an eatery called Tahini’s that neither of us had been to before, and because they were the only location open, the choice wasn’t difficult.
I ordered a Habibi bowl and, believe it or not, they offer chicken tenders and fries, which Blaine naturally settled on. The Habibi bowl consists of chicken shawarma, rice, pita chips, fried onions, tzatziki & spicy garlic, and when I tell you it was like a flavour explosion occurred in my mouth, I can assure you I am not lying. I don’t know the last time I ate something so damn flavourful, and I went back again a week later to order the same thing because I continued thinking about it and how much I enjoyed it. Blaine said his chicken and fries were good, and they have a decent-sized menu with all sorts of options for just about anybody.
I believe the Habibi bowl cost me roughly $16, and the portions are exceptionally generous. Depending on how much you eat, you could arguably get two meals out of one of these bowls.
There is a Tahini’s in Brantford, but from what I saw online, they’re all over the place. Do yourself a favour and stop to try some of their incredible food – I doubt you will be disappointed.
