I will be entirely transparent with you – I had absolutely no idea what the hell I was going to write about for today’s post, and I had to turn to Google for some inspiration.
It’s just one of those days in which the cogs in my cranium have ceased. You all know the feeling, I imagine, and when it comes to being creative, it can be a real pain in the ass.
While scouring Google for some ideas, I came across a blog post topic idea that snagged my attention. The concept in question was posed as an inquiry: what’s your favourite way to self-care?
I figure self-care is something we should all strive to dabble in, even though it seems almost impossible for some of us.
I thought about it for a little bit, and my favourite ways to practice self-care include:
- Taking a hot bath. I don’t know why this brings me so much joy, but it does, and it has for a few years now. Something about relaxing in the hot water and being alone recharges my inner battery.
- Vegging out and watching television. I think this one applies to a lot of people; when we are watching something, our brain shifts from focusing on our own thoughts and issues to whatever it is we are watching, and the numbing effect is appreciated. I look forward to getting into my pyjamas with a snack and a coffee to watch something on Netflix every evening before bed.
- Spending time outdoors. I am not someone who can spend extended periods of time cooped up inside as I tend to get antsy, and sunshine and fresh air can boost my spirits just about each and every time I’m feeling down or off.
What are your preferred ways to engage in self-care? Do you have some tried and true methods like myself?
