I named this personal recipe on a bit of a whim simply to be able to insert a title for today’s post, but I do think my choice of ‘sausage sliders’ has a nice ring to it.
Knowing my luck, sausage sliders are probably very much a thing already, and I’m here just perpetuating their existence, but I’ll take what I can get.
A couple of nights ago, I found myself staring into our refrigerator, trying to determine what to make for dinner. I didn’t have a plan, so I started pulling out some items that needed to be consumed sooner rather than later, and eventually, I found myself with some basic ingredients that could be used to create mini sausage sandwiches.
Sausage sliders sound a bit more elevated than sausage sandwiches, in my opinion.
Blaine ended up loving what I made, so I thought I would share this creation with all of you.
Sausage Sliders
You will need (to serve two people)
- Two to four sausages of any kind, depending on how big of an eater you are (I used smoked cheddar sausages)
- Four buns (I used egg buns)
- 1/2 of shredded cheese (four slices of cheese would also work, depending on what you have available)
- Two tablespoons of barbeque sauce
Directions
- Begin by poking some holes in your sausages with a fork. Cook your sausages however you prefer, but if you’re using an air fryer and smoked sausage like I did, put them in an air fryer at 400 F for six minutes.
- While your sausages are cooking, slice your buns into halves and evenly spread your cheese on top of the bread.
- When your sausages are cooked, remove them from the air fryer and slice them into halves.
- Place one to two sausages, cut into halves, on your buns, and drizzle them with your barbeque sauce.
- Put your sausage sliders back into the air fryer at 400 F for about three minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the buns are just beginning to toast.
- Serve and enjoy.
