When I was first made aware that Tim Horton’s would be offering pizza as an addition to their menu, I wasn’t entirely sure what to think. To be honest, I figured they probably wouldn’t be terrific, seeing as Tim’s is mainly recognized for their coffee, donuts and sandwiches, but I try not to judge and decided that sampling said pizza was only necessary.
I ended up getting one of their pizzas after a rugby practice because I was ravenous and I knew I wouldn’t be borderline murderous by the time I got home. There is a Tim’s down the road from where my team practices, and because they had no ingredients left to make a sandwich, I opted for their chicken parmesan pizza.
Chicken parmesan is not exactly the most common topping to put on a pizza, but I figured it was worth a shot. So far, I’ve only tried this kind, but there are also pepperoni, bacon ranch, and cheese varieties available to pick from.
I will say I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that the pizza came piping hot in the box it is enclosed in, so much so that I had to wait a few minutes for it to cool down before I could have a bite. They’re a decent size, but they wouldn’t feed more than one person assuming you don’t have the appetite of a bird. The crust wasn’t soggy or anything of the sort, and while the chicken parmesan flavour wasn’t bad, I don’t think I would order it again. That being said, the pizza truly does taste like chicken parmesan, and I was taken aback by how pronounced that particular flavour was. I’m just not the biggest fan of chicken parm, and that was the only flavour available at the time I went.
I would like to try the other varieties at some point, but as of now, I can say with confidence that Tim Horton’s pizzas are, in fact, a yay.
