I try my best to cook with as much creativity as I can muster for myself and my husband, but more often than not, I find myself unintentionally getting into a bit of a cooking rut. Blaine, my husband, is a picky eater which doesn’t help the cause by any means, but additionally, we both have our favourites, and they tend to be the easiest option when I’m in a pinch, which seems to be most of the time.
I do have a dish I’ve created myself, if you can even describe it as such, and both Blaine and I love it. It’s simple, but it’s delicious, and it doesn’t require a tremendous amount of effort. I don’t really have a name for it, but for the sake of this post, let’s refer to it as Lauren’s beef and noodles.
I realize that has borderline zero allure, but trust the process.
Ingredients (to serve two people with leftovers)
- Some sort of cooking oil or spray
- One pound of ground beef (local is best)
- Two tbsp of Worschetire sauce
- One tbsp of salt
- One tbsp of pepper
- One tbsp of garlic powder
- One tbsp of onion powder
- One tbsp of Montreal Steak Spice
- One tbsp of Italian herb seasoning
- Two tbsp of Hungarian paprika
- Half a cup of Cheese Whiz (don’t judge me)
- One package of whatever sort of noodles you like
Directions:
- Begin by oiling or spraying your pan and toss in your beef, on medium heat, your Worschetire sauce, all of your herbs and your salt and pepper
- While the ground beef is cooking, bring a pot of salted water to a boil
- Once the water has started to boil, reduce the heat to medium and add your noodles
- While your noodles are cooking, keep an eye on the beef and stir it occasionally. Once it is brown and there is no more red, turn the heat to low and add in your Cheese Whiz
- Once your noodles are cooked, strain them and add them to the pan with the beef. Mix everything together, and enjoy.
