Here’s how to make tough choices

I would not consider decision-making one of my strengths. That is not to say I am hopeless when it comes to making a choice, because I’m not; rather, I am someone who likes to take some time to consider all possibilities in a particular situation before I come to a final conclusion, and I think there are plenty of people who are like myself in this regard.

Some decisions are simple and don’t require tremendous thought and/or effort to come to some sort of determination. As an example, the question of what I am going to make for dinner on a daily basis is not a choice I struggle with. I just decide on something and go with it, and that is all there is to it.

Other decisions, however, that possess a bit more significance than simply deciding what I would like to stuff my face with are where I run into some difficulty. I get confused, overwhelmed, anxious and stressed, and most of the time, I need to ask someone else’s opinion before I can make any sort of choice.

There are things we can do in an attempt to make decision-making a little less worrisome, and one such thing is what I just said – asking someone else for their opinion or thoughts toward whatever it is you’re trying to decide. Sometimes, getting an outside perspective can work wonders, and it’s a great option if you feel like your head is muddled with information,

Another option in the decision-making process to consider is creating a pros and cons list. It seems obvious, but sometimes, writing everything out on paper can be the best way to make sense of the jumbled mess in your head, in addition to clarifying if the decision you’re faced with has more cons than it does pros, or vice versa.
