This past Sunday, my parents graciously took Blaine and me out for a lovely dinner.
Before getting married, and when the economy was a little better, my family and I would go for dinner almost every weekend. I’ve grown to miss it quite a bit since moving out, so any opportunity I have to go out for dinner with my parents I try to seize.
My mom and dad informed us we were going to Crazy Canuck Smokehouse here in Brantford, Ontario. They had been once before and absolutely loved it, hence why they wanted to bring me and Blaine. They’re located at 124 Morrell Street in Brantford, and while the restaurant itself is small, the food they serve could blow the doors off any establishment.
The inside is rustic and warm, and we were greeted by a lovely server no sooner than we stepped in the door. She gave us some menus, and things only went up from there.
My mom enjoyed the brisket chilli and a side garden salad; my dad had a small Caesar salad and the chicken wing and rib combo, served with fries; Blaine had poutine; I had a burger and fries. My parents both got the same thing they ordered the last time they were in, but Blaine and I were thoroughly impressed with our food. Blaine said the poutine was one of, if not the best he has ever had, and my burger was phenomenal. The fries were also fantastic, and while I really wanted some mac and cheese, they had sadly run out earlier, which means it must be a great item to savour.
Their prices are affordable and the portions are a generous size. If you’re a fan of barbeque food, you need to visit Crazy Canuck Smokehouse sooner than later. You won’t regret it.
