If you like spice, you need this oil

I believe I have mentioned before that I like to reference Buzzfeed articles from time to time in an attempt to keep up with what are, supposedly, unbelievably great products. I’ve managed to collect a few items over the years from these sorts of articles that have proven to be excellent purchases, hence why I continue to monitor them occasionally.

I was reading one recently that recommended a Chilli oil, and because it sounded so enticing and offered such promising reviews, I deemed it only appropriate to order it and try it out for myself.

The product in question is the Momofuku Black Truffle Chili Crunch by David Chang, and it is available for purchase from Amazon.

Here is a description of the oil, from Amazon: “Momofuku Black Truffle Chili Crunch is a spicy-crunchy hot chili oil from David Chang made with real black truffle, Mexican chili peppers, crunchy garlic, and shallots.”

I ended up ordering the black truffle version because the only other available one was extra spicy, and me and my bowels decided not to take that risk.

It came in the mail a couple of days ago, and because I had some udon noodles to experiment with, I thought this oil would be the perfect topping for my noodles. I was correct in thinking this, because this oil is like a flavour explosion once it hits your tastebuds; however, I was a little taken aback by how spicy the black truffle version is, and because of that, I do warn anyone who has a sensitivity to spice. My nose was dripping and I had turned beet red by the time I forced down the last forkful of my udon.

It is a little pricey, but if you’re a spice seeker, I absolutely recommend this oil. I plan to use it again soon, but perhaps a significantly smaller quantity than last time.
