When was the last time you went to Denny’s?

To my knowledge, the presence of Denny’s restaurant chains here in Canada is lull when compared to its presence in the U.S. The first and only Denny’s I ever went to, up until quite recently, was in Buffalo, New York, and that was probably over ten years ago.

I’m not exactly sure when it opened, but believe it or not, a Denny’s restaurant has come to Brantford, Ontario, located on Henry Street. Shortly before Christmas, my family and I were trying to decide where to go for dinner, and upon my dad’s suggestion of Denny’s, we all agreed because it had been so long since any of us had dined there.

I was pleasantly surprised by the selection on the menu. I think most of us think of breakfast when we think of Denny’s, and perhaps that is what they’re best known for. However, their menu was several pages and had plenty to choose from for lunch, dinner, and dessert.

My mom, dad, Blaine and I went, and we all enjoyed breakfast for dinner. Myself and Blaine did the ‘build your own’ breakfast; mine consisted of two medium-poached eggs, bacon, sausage and hashbrowns. Blaine’s was the same, except his eggs were prepared over-easy and he had brioche French toast with his. My mom had a Mexican-inspired skillet, and my dad had steak and eggs, one of his favourites.

My dad couldn’t believe how affordable the bill was considering four of us ate, and the serving sizes were generous. We all left full and satisfied, and the waiter we had was a gem.

If you’re like me and haven’t visited a Denny’s in a hot minute, consider this a friendly reminder to do so. If you’re in the Brantford area, we now have one close to home, and I have no doubt I’ll be back there again soon.

  1. Your news of Denny’s opening in your country contrasts with earlier news of Denny’s in the U.S. closing down 150 locations: https://edition.cnn.com/2024/10/22/food/dennys-closures/index.html

But putting that aside, the Philippines also has Denny’s locations — with most of them being concentrated in the capital Manila. Only a few of them are 24/7, with the rest following standard business hours, i.e. with a opening and closing time.

    1. That is interesting! You’re right, the presence of them here in Canada does contradict the closures in the U.S. But, I am happy to hear you’re also able to enjoy Denny’s in the Philippines. 🙂 Thank you for reading!
