As strongly as I detest the scent of BioFreeze, I really am rather grateful for the product. It has been my saving grace on more than one occasion, and, during the rugby season, it’s on my body more often than not.
In case you’re unfamiliar with it, BioFreeze is effective in terms of calming down and soothing muscle aches and pains. I’ve been using it for years, and while some people have other preferences for muscle rubs, BioFreeze seems to work the best for me, personally.
As I said, I really don’t love the smell, but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make because it works as well as it does. But, because the scent honestly makes me a little nauseous, applying it can be a bit of a doozie because even after thoroughly washing your hands, the scent often lingers. I have a roll-on bottle of the product, which certainly helps to keep it off of your hands while applying, but the best version of the product I’ve encountered yet is the BioFreeze patches. They can be hard to come by, but they’re often carried in pharmacies, and while they’re a little on the pricy side, I think they’re worth it.
The patches are a decent size – roughly the length of my hand and almost as wide. They are adhesive as fuck and really do stay put all day long, although it is not recommended to wear one for longer than eight hours. I wear them during rugby games and practices, and if they can withstand both, I don’t think there are many things that would cause them to fall off on their own.
If you’re someone who deals with a plethora of sore muscles, BioFreeze patches may quickly become your new best friend. I highly recommend them, and, if you don’t need to use an entire patch, you can easily trim them to the size you require.
