Here’s your sign to visit Kelseys Original Roadhouse

When it comes to restaurants, there doesn’t seem to be a shortage of roadhouses. I am not complaining about this, because roadhouses almost always offer familiar favourites and cold drinks, and that’s just about all I require in the context of eating out. I know a few people who tend to pull their noses up toward roadhouses, and, honestly, it’s their loss.

This past weekend, Blaine and I went to Kelseys Original Roadhouse. They have locations all over the place, so we went to our local one, which happens to be in Brantford. Neither of us had been to this chain in years, and because we received a giftcard from my generous parents for our wedding anniversary back in June, we decided to put it to use at Kelseys.

Blaine ordered their Ultimate Bacon and Cheese Burger with a side of French fries and gravy, and I had their Smash Burger Quesadilla with a side of onion rings. Blaine said his burger was delicious, and I thoroughly enjoyed my dish. It consisted of beef patties, American cheese, dill pickles and shredded lettuce in a tortilla, and it was fucking delicious, as were the onion rings. Kelseys onion rings are fantastic, and I really liked the breading they used for them.

Blaine and I go to Montana’s here and there, and he said that the burger he had from Kelseys absolutely trumps any burger from Montana’s, in case anyone was yearning for a comparison. As for my dish, I haven’t seen a Smash Burger Quesadilla anywhere else before, and I absolutely recommend getting it if it tickles your taste bud preferences.

Blaine also had a beer, and our total was around $60 after we tipped our lovely server. Kelseys has great food, competitive pricing and a relaxed atmosphere. If you, like us, haven’t been to a Kelseys in a hot minute, consider this your sign to do so.
