I normally designate Sundays as my cleaning day each week. This past Sunday, I ended up doing more cleaning than I initially planned; I spent the majority of the afternoon cleaning various things in the house, and by the time I was finished and saw that the time was already 5:30pm, I quickly realized I had absolutely no desire to cook dinner. So, I decided to order takeout from Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen in Brantford, and I thought I would share my honest review of their food for anyone who might be interested.
I ordered two of the three-piece chicken tender combos for myself and Blaine. For Blaine’s sides, I ordered him Cajun fries and macaroni and cheese, and for my own I went with the macaroni as well as the mashed potatoes with cajun gravy.
Blaine and I agreed the chicken tenders were excellent. Their flavour and breading were delightful, and the chicken itself was tender and juicy.
Blaine said the cajun fries were pretty good, as well as the biscuits that came with each of our meals.
The mashed potatoes with Cajun gravy were tasty as heck, and I really enjoyed the gravy. It isn’t the gravy we all know and enjoy at Thanksgiving and Christmastime, but rather a spicy, rich and flavourful gravy that had just the right amount of kick.
The macaroni and cheese wasn’t wonderful. It wasn’t bad by any means, but Blaine and I agreed it was just a bit bland and didn’t offer a ton of flavour.
The portions of our meals were healthy, and I wasn’t able to finish all of mine, which is a rarity for me with my appetite. I would definitely say Popeyes’ food is a yay as opposed to a nay, but their macaroni and cheese isn’t something I think I would order again.
