I think we can all agree that despite our best efforts in the kitchen, meals can become a bit redundant and boring over time. We often slip into a pattern of preparing the same dishes over and over, and while there is nothing wrong with repetition, sometimes we’re seeking out something new and exciting to tickle our palates with.
A few evenings ago, I was trying to brainstorm some ideas for something new to make for dinner, and it suddenly dawned on me that sandwiches are some of the most versatile things in existence. From the choice of bread to the toppings, and everything good in between, sandwiches are vastly overrated, in my own opinion, and you can do a hell of a lot with them out of what one might deem ordinary ingredients.
I ended up making an absolutely bomb sandwich, and because it was so tasty and so simple to make, I wanted to share my recipe with all of you. Feel free to tweak the ingredients in accordance with your own preferences.
You will need (for one sandwich)
- Two slices of sourdough bread
- One tablespoon of Boursin Herb and Garlic cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Three pieces of buttermilk chicken tenders
- Ketchup
- Honey mustard
- Sliced onion
- Sliced dill pickles
Begin by cooking your chicken tenders however you fancy – I cooked mine in my air fryer. Once the chicken is cooked, slice it into smaller pieces and set aside.
Next, spread your cheese along one slice of your bread. Place your chicken on top of the cheese, add your salt and pepper, and pop it back into the air fryer for a couple of minutes to crisp up the bread and melt the cheese.
Once the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted, throw on your ketchup, honey mustard, sliced onion and dill pickles, and voila! You’ve made yourself a stellar sandwich for dinner.
