Running out of audiobook listening hours? Try YouTube

Audiobooks and I have come a long way in terms of how we perceive one another. Or, at least, in terms of how I perceive audiobooks. I used to pull my nose up at them because I don’t consider listening to an audiobook to be the same as reading, but now that I’ve come to realize how efficient they are for people who like to read but don’t necessarily have the time for it. I listen to audiobooks now when I drive, clean, exercise and more, and in doing so I have contemplated how many other people likely do the same.

I have a premium Spotify account, and there are audiobooks available to listen to. The issue, however, is that despite already paying for my account, I only get a certain number of audiobook listening hours per month, and once I hit the limit, I can’t continue listening until the next month begins. It’s a real piss off, and I’ve been trying to consider other methods to listen to some. No one enjoys having to stop a book halfway through and resume it weeks later.

I figured I would give YouTube a try, and while I wasn’t really expecting promising results, I was a little surprised by how many recordings are on there. You can find some that include an entire audiobook in one recording, and others are broken up into parts, depending on how long the book is. I’ve kind of only explored Kristin Hannah audiobooks thus far, and there is a decent selection.

The quality of the recordings may not be as good as audiobooks found on Spotify, but they do the trick for me. I’m currently listening to True Colours by Kristin Hannah, and I’m about halfway through.

If you enjoy audiobooks but don’t love having to pay additional fees, consider YouTube, my friends.
