While I still don’t know what exactly I’ve done to my knee in terms of injury, I have received some information over the past few days regarding what it is I am dealing with. Miraculously, nothing is torn in my knee, and I am so incredibly grateful for this. I did, apparently, rupture bursa sacs in my knee, and there is a solid amount of internal bleeding going on, which is why the swelling is not going down. I see a surgeon on Monday to hopefully get some further clarification.
In the meantime, I’ve been told to ice and elevate. I wanted to see what I could find via Amazon in terms of products specifically intended to ice knees, and my God, I found a winner.
The NEWGO Ice Pack is technically marketed as an ice pack to provide relief following a knee replacement surgery, but it works just fine for icing any sort of knee injury. The design is genius; it looks like a regular knee brace, except the entire thing is an ice pack, with not one, not two, but three separate velcro straps to ensure a secure and proper fit for your own knee. It retails for $30, and I plan to keep this thing for the remainder of my days in case I ever need it again. I’ve already told a few people about it that I know deal with knee pain because I am so pleased with how this product performs.
It is a little awkward to wear it, but considering the relief it provides, I’d say the bulkiness of it is absolutely worth it. It’s reversible, meaning one side is more intense with the icing than the other, and it can be used as a heating pack in addition to an ice pack. This thing is brilliant, and if you have knee pain, it might just become your new best friend.
