I think one could successfully argue that, in the context of glass cleaners, the ones that contain harsh chemicals, of course, seem to work best. I’ve tried a handful of natural and chemical-free glass cleaners over the past few years, and while the one from Attitude works rather well, it still doesn’t do as good a job as Windex does.
With my health issues, I try not to use harsh chemicals unless it’s absolutely necessary. My mom has told me about Norwex glass-cleaning cloths that only require water to use, and while that’s fantastic in the sense that nothing but water is required, I refuse to pay the astronomical prices of this brand. So, when I spotted a glass-cleaning cloth in a BuzzFeed article that is significantly cheaper than the Norwex version, I decided to give it a go and see what happens.
I ordered the E-Cloth Window Scrubbing & Polishing Set Microfiber Cleaning Cloth from Amazon, and paid about $25 bucks for the kit. The kit comes with two cloths – one is meant to be wetted with only water and used to wipe down a glass surface, and the second cloth is used for polishing a surface after the cleaning cloth has been used. The polishing cloth is, quite conveniently, labelled as such, so you don’t have to worry about getting confused and using the cloths in reverse order.
These cloths do a fantastic job in terms of cleaning glass, and I even tried using them to clean a stainless steel garbage can, which they also cleaned very well. Not a single streak or smudge was left behind, and considering they only use water, I think their performance is rather remarkable.
I absolutely recommend this cloth kit. You save money by not having to purchase paper towels or glass cleaner of any sort; it’s chemical-free; and it’s very effective.
