Over the past couple of days I have been feeling rather stressed, and my body is beginning to display signs of how said stress is impacting my overall well-being. I have been experiencing headaches, breakouts and fatigue, and so I came to the realization that I need to designate specific ways in which I am personally able to alleviate stress.
The first thing I tend to do when I am feeling overwhelmed is to run a hot bath. I find that I am able to clear my head whilst in the bath, and once I am finished soaking in the tub I feel relaxed. Another thing I find to be effective in terms of reducing stress is simply breathing. It may feel silly, but taking a couple of minutes to stop in order to perform some deep breathing exercises is a technique that works quite well for me personally. I deeply inhale and exhale ten times in a row, and once I am finished I find my thoughts to be less chaotic.
Exercise is another thing that allows me to gain control over my stress. It is an activity that distracts me from whatever I am stressing about, and I feel refreshed once I have worked up a decent sweat. Exercise can be conducted in countless manners, so be sure to explore some options and determine which type of exercise you most prefer.
Stress is often times inevitable in life, however it is not something that should overwhelm your basic happiness and mental clarity. It is manageable and controllable, and I find my techniques to be effective – perhaps they will be for you as well.
