The area in which I reside is not exactly brimming with restaurant possibilities. Most of the eateries in the city of Brantford are chains (with a few exceptions), and after a while chains can become rather boring. Myself and my family prefer to experiment with more versatile and unique cuisine options when it comes to eating out, and thankfully, Stillwaters Plate & Pour in Paris, Ontario, passes our expectations.
Stillwaters overlooks the Grand River in Paris and offers a spectacular view. It is situated in downtown Paris and furthermore has a patio overlooking the river that is wonderful to sit upon in the summer months. My family and I have been going to still waters since it opened several years ago, and because the menu is so broad, we never become bored with its options.
The owners Matt Cummings and William Thompson, who is also head chef and appeared on Food Network’s Top Chef Canada, ensure that their creations feature local ingredients. The restaurant serves ten draught beers from across the globe and promotes the importance of supporting fresh, friendly food.
Stillwaters offers fantastic salads (be sure to try the Tuscan Grilled Chicken Club Salad), oysters, poutine, pizza, panzerottis, po boys, pastas and seafood. They also have a variety of gluten-free and vegan options, therefore this restaurant is an excellent option for those with food intolerances and allergies. They have a kids menu and their dessert is fantastic, and quite honestly I fail to have a single negative thing to say about this place. I always order the gluten-free breaded Lake Erie pickerel, which comes with a baked potato and fresh, steamed veggies, and I never leave disappointed.
The atmosphere is stunning and cozy, the prices are reasonable and the food is fantastic. If you have yet to eat at Stillwaters, I recommend doing so!
