Simple Pick-Me-Ups

We arguably all experience days in which we simply fail to feel like our best self. Everyday stresses can become overwhelming amongst other duties and responsibilities, and before you know it you’re feeling and looking like a cast member from The Walking Dead.

Rather than triggering even more stress regarding how stressed you’re already feeling, designate some simple activities to engage in to get yourself feeling better and eventually back to normal.

Here is a list of some possible simple pick-me-ups:

  • Watch a movie with your favourite snack
  • Go for a walk to clear your head
  • Spend some time with your pet(s) if you have any
  • Run a hot bath and soak in your favourite bubble bath / bath bomb
  • Doodle
  • Bake
  • Exercise
  • Paint your nails
  • Try a new makeup look you’ve been meaning to experiment with
  • Shop for a new outfit
  • Watch a classic fail compilation on Youtube
  • Watch ten classic fail compilations on Youtube
  • Sing at the top of your lungs in the shower
  • Go for a drive through the country
  • Go fishing
  • Light a candle and curl up with a good book
  • Do some research on a topic that interests you
  • Do some freelance writing / creative writing
  • Look for some new music and discover new artists
  • Have a nap
  • Binge watch your favourite television series on Netflix
  • Select a recipe that appeals to you, go to the grocery store to purchase whatever ingredients you may require and cook yourself a fantastic meal
  • Stretch
  • Try yoga
  • Have a warm drink
  • Organize your makeup drawer / closet
  • Organize your kitchen cupboards
  • Clean your home from top to bottom
  • Explore your own city and discover new things
  • Spend time with friends and / or family

These recommandations may seem rather ordinary, but sometimes the simplest activities are the most effective in terms of improving your mood or day. What’s your favourite way to cheer yourself up?
