Romina: Not Worth the Watch

When I came across Romina on Netflix a few nights ago, the description offered peaked my interest. “A shocking assault inspires horrific violence when a group of teens encounters a girl from their school while camping in a remote spot” is what it reads, and to be honest, if you’re into horror movies, why wouldn’t a blurb like this snag your attention?

Well, I couldn’t have been more wrong when I genuinely believed this film was going to be a good one, and I can say with complete honesty it is hands down one of the worst horror movies I have seen in my life (and no, this isn’t an exaggeration). It is entirely in Spanish, which doesn’t bother me so long as there are subtitles provided, but this movie is seriously lacking in its plot, and my boyfriend and I were both thoroughly confused throughout. It begins with a group of teenage friends embarking on a weekend camping trip, with one of the friends worrying over his friend, Romina, because she hasn’t returned any of his calls over the span of several days. Lone behold, this Romina chick conveniently happens to be camping in the same isolated park as them, and after one of the friends sexually assaults her, she goes on a rogue killing spree and violently murders all of them, one by one. The only survivor? The dude in the beginning who is ‘worried’ about her. The movie ends with the two of them relishing in sick romance over their massacre, and not a whole lot else. Other than the assault that occurs between Romina and one of the males, there is zero explanation as to why she and her pal psychotically murder all of their friends (and the park ranger, for that matter), and I will not be recommending this one to anyone.

The movie poster should be enough to warn you to stay far, far away from this film.
