The year of 2020 arguably enabled more of us to tune into, watch, and quite possibly finish a wide variety of both films and television series, among other media productions. Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic and the numerous lockdowns it resulted in, a lot of us found ourselves with a significant amount of free time on our hands whilst confined within the comfort of our homes, which means streaming services and subscriptions usage likely increased quite a bit.

I don’t watch a ton of television or movies, but I do enjoy making time for them in the evenings. I watch a little over an hour of whatever I am currently watching just about every night, and while it might take me longer to finish something, I really don’t mind. It builds suspense, in a way.

I thought it might be kind of fun to list some of my favourite television series and movies as of late in hopes of encouraging someone else to check them out. These movies and shows aren’t necessarily newly released, but rather are ones I have recently watched, and there a few I wish I had seen sooner. Anyways, take a gander.

Television:

  • Vikings (I watched seasons one through four a year ago or so but am currently re-watching for a refresher now that Netflix has added more seasons)
  • The Last Kingdom
  • Barbarians
  • Night Stalker
  • The Queen’s Gambit
  • The Haunting of Bly Manor
  • Ratched
  • Lennox Hill
  • Cheer

Movies:

  • Hit and Run
  • Head Full of Honey
  • No Country for Old Men
  • Papillion
  • The Dirt
  • Warrior
  • Creed 2
  • I, Tonya
  • Mine 9
  • Don’t Breathe
  • The Bygone
  • Ford v Ferrari

There ya have it, folks. These movies and shows haven’t let me down, and a few I have watched more than once. I hope they can appeal to someone, and if there are any you recommend, please let me know in the comments.
