Here are some spooky movie recommendations for this Halloween

With Halloween upon us, one thing is for certain; spooky season is here, in full swing, and I am living for it.

Halloween is, undoubtedly, my favourite time of year. I love everything about it, for several reasons, but one reason that stands out in particular is that it is a time of year in which watching terrifying movies is socially acceptable and you aren’t viewed as a psychopath for watching them, which makes me content.

You’re arguably aware by now that I watch horror movies on a rather consistent basis, regardless of the time of year, and some of my family is concerned for my well-being as a result. Do I feel judged? Perhaps. Do I blame them? No.

I’ve seen a few horror and scary movies in my day, so thought it might be beneficial to list some of my preferred movies that fall into this categorization, along with some thrillers if I’m being entirely transparent. Feel free to inform me if I’m missing any movies you consider to be essentials when it comes to scary flicks.

  • Creep
  • The Ring
  • Hereditary
  • The Conjuring
  • Halloween (the original and the remake)
  • Don’t Breathe
  • Midsommar
  • Drag me to Hell
  • Sinister
  • The Witch
  • Hush
  • The Babadook
  • The Strangers
  • Get Out
  • Gerald’s Game
  • The Blair Witch Project
  • Paranormal Activity
  • The Birds
  • The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (again, the original and the remake)
  • The Visit
  • Rosemary’s Baby
  • The Silence of the Lambs
  • The Exorcism of Emily Rose

Again, these are my own personal recommendations, and I’m certain I’m missing some. And, while we are on the topic of scary productions I advise watching, allow me to say the following television series:

  • Midnight Mass
  • The Haunting of Hill House
  • The Haunting of Bly Manor
  • Unsolved Mysteries
  • Paranormal Survivor

Do you have a horror movie you consider to be the worst? If so, please share.
