What the heck, Queen and Adam Lambert

I wouldn’t say I’ve kept my love for the band Queen and Freddie Mercury a secret. I’ve been a tremendous fan of this group since I was in the seventh grade, and while Freddie is sadly no longer with us, his legacy and Queen’s music continue to be celebrated and loved by many.

Adam Lambert, within the past few years, has joined Queen as their lead singer in Freddie’s gaping absence. Adam isn’t Freddie, and no one will ever be Freddie. But, Adam’s vocals are stupendous, and while his voice isn’t a dead ringer for Freddie’s, his range is, in addition to his talent and stage presence.

My mom and I saw Queen and Adam Lambert a few years ago when they played in Toronto on their North American tour. The show was phenomenal, and when I heard that they are once again embarking on a North American tour with only one stop in Canada (Toronto), I knew I had to check out ticket prices.

Well fuck me to tears, I certainly was not expecting ticket prices to be as ludicrous as they are. Nosebleed seats start at $500, and I literally laughed aloud when I visited the Ticketmaster website.

Obviously disappointed, I informed my mom of the price gouging happening with these tickets, and we unanimously agreed we will not be attending. I said to my mom I simply cannot fathom why in the fuck anyone needs to charge such ridiculous amounts to attend a concert, let alone musicians who have more money than they will ever know what to do with. It’s unnecessary, entitled, and seriously unappreciated.

I was therefore stunned that tickets sold out at these prices, and I was even more stunned when I learned the band added seven new tour dates because there was such a demand for tickets. I’m not sure who the hell is buying these tickets, but it ain’t me.
