DIY crafts have always intrigued me. I guess I would consider myself a relatively artistic person, although that answer would arguably differ depending on who you ask, and as much as I enjoy being creative and dabbling in crafts, I often just assume I don’t have the time and therefore write the concept of DIY projects off.
I have engaged in a handful of crafts over the years, and I do still try to save the odd one I see here and there in case I’m suddenly feeling very inspired and have absolutely nothing to do. I recently came across an idea, though, that really got my creative juices flowing, and this idea doesn’t involve a whole lot of materials.
The version of this craft I saw was for Easter, but you could easily modify this craft to suit literally any season or occasion. I don’t know what the proper term for it would be, but the idea is to use a pool noodle to create a beautiful decorative piece to sit atop a fireplace mantle.
Essentially, you get yourself a pool noodle and cut a slit down its entire length in order to shove it onto the mantle without it falling off. Next, using a variety of fake flowers, plants, and other craft materials, you poke the wires of your decorative pieces into the pool noodle until you create something that looks like a piece of art.
Here is an example I found via Pinterest for a Christmas version:

And another example, also from Pinterest, for a Fall version:

I consider this craft to be absolutely genius in terms of its simplicity and its ability to suit literally any affair or occasion you need it to, and with a quick trip to the Dollar Store, you can grab just about everything you might need.
