In the context of physical activity, pulled and sore muscles are almost inevitable. Perhaps we failed to warm up properly before going a little too hard in practice; maybe we added more weight to our deadlift. Regardless of the reasoning behind strained muscles, anyone who has experienced the discomfort can attest to how irritating it is, and depending on what muscle groups are affected, motions that once seemed effortless might be giving you some more grief than usual.
What’s even more frustrating about sore muscles is sometimes, no matter how much we stretch and warm up, we can tweak them for no apparent reason. Sometimes it’s as simple as bending over to grab something we dropped; as we age, our muscles become less flexible and forgiving, so it is important to be mindful of these changes before approaching a task with utmost tenacity.
Sore muscles can also occur as a result of overlooking other physical health complaints. Ignoring symptoms may put extra strain on muscles. Using prescription arthritis medication for chronic joint pain and stiffness, for example, helps. Prevention is the best form of protection. However, even a conscious effort to fight tenderness and maintain good wellness won’t stop sore muscles completely.
Recently, I irritated some muscles that I haven’t used in quite some time doing an activity I haven’t done for years. Additionally, I actually tore a muscle in my thigh – nothing too serious in terms of the grade of the tear, but still extremely painful, believe me. I was hardly able to walk so I knew I needed to go to Shoppers and see what I could find for muscle relief, and when I spotted Biofreeze patches, I figured they were worth a shot.
I used Biofreeze quite a bit when I was playing rugby, but at that time, patches weren’t yet a thing; I absolutely detest the smell, but the shit works, so I was hoping using a patch would be a little less messy and therefore less smelly.
I am pleased to report my hopes proved to be true, and after wearing these patches for an entire day, my thigh felt significantly better. If you’re someone who often strains muscles, consider picking up some Biofreeze patches – they’re fantastic.
