If there are two things in this world my husband loves more than me, I am inclined to believe they would be hot dogs and pizza. I swear that Blaine could eat pizza daily for the rest of his life and never tire of it, and hot dogs are a close second.
I should stipulate, however, that not just any hot dog will do. His preference is all-beef Juicy Jumbos.
Blaine sent me an Instagram Reel a few days ago detailing how to go about making pizza hot dogs in the air fryer. The message he sent with this Reel read “Uh-oh,” indicating his awareness of just how deadly these suckers could be.
I haven’t tried making any myself yet, but I wanted to find a recipe to share with all of you in case anyone else out there is a fegin for these two foods to the same extent my husband is. This recipe for Air Fryer Pizza Dogs comes from allrecipes.com.
“Ingredients:
- 2 hot dogs
- 4 slices pepperoni, halved
- ½ cup pizza sauce
- 2 hot dog buns
- ¼ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 teaspoons sliced olives
“Directions
- Preheat an air fryer to 390 degrees F (200 degrees C) according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- Make 4 slits down each hot dog. Place hot dogs in the air fryer basket; cook for 3 minutes. Transfer to a cutting board.
- Place 1 pepperoni half in each slit; divide pizza sauce between buns. Add hot dogs, mozzarella cheese, and olives.
- Return hot dogs to the air fryer basket; cook until buns are crisp and cheese is melted, about 2 minutes,” the recipe states.
I don’t think I need to remind you all of your free will, so feel free to mix it up with the toppings and go for some you typically enjoy on pizza. Personally, I think I would mix in some chopped onion and green pepper.
