McDonald’s cookies: yay or nay?

I think it would be reasonably safe to assume that when most of us think of McDonald’s, cookies are not exactly the first thing to come to mind. McDonald’s is known for its fast food, arguably most for its hamburgers and chicken nuggets, so it makes sense that baked goods aren’t usually the first items of recognition associated with the chain.

I am here, however, to spread the good word and inform all of you that McDonald’s cookies are fucking fire, and I would even go so far as to state that they’re better than Tim Horton’s cookies.

I’ll allow all of you a few minutes to come to terms with that sizzling assertion.

I am serious, though. I had never tried a McDonald’s cookie until a couple of months ago; I was browsing the app on my phone, placing an order to pick up, when my eyes were teased by the mention of a sugar cookie. I felt like a bit of an ass, because I guess I didn’t even realize McDonald’s carries cookies, so when I saw one, you can bet your ass I sought out more. I was delighted to learn that, in addition to the classic chocolate chip, as well as the sugar cookie, McDonald’s also offers a s’mores cookie.

Naturally, I ordered one of each, and while they’re all bloody fantastic, I honestly think their sugar cookie is the best out of all three. It’s ever so slightly crispy around its edges, but soft and gooey in its centre, and while there are no statutory cookie criteria in existence, I think McDonald’s has set the damn tone with their sugar cookie. The chocolate chip one is bomb, and the s’mores one is wonderfully satisfying in the sense that it has huge chunks of marshmallow that dramatically expand in the microwave, which makes for a satisfying little science experiment.

If you’ve never sampled McDonald’s cookies, get your ass to a location right now and try one for yourself.
