While I am struggling to pinpoint the exact date, I believe it was last summer that I started using DoorDash. I have an Amazon Prime account, and for a short while, Amazon and DoorDash teamed up to form a partnership of sorts; if you had a Prime membership, you were able to sign up for a year’s worth of free deliveries from DoorDash. I was a little curious to see all that DoorDash had to offer, so I decided to give it a shot and started making use of the delivery service shortly after.
At first, I was solely using DoorDash for grocery deliveries, but that eventually bled into using it for food deliveries, too, whenever Blaine and I found ourselves in a pinch in regard to dinner. It’s come in handy for sure, and it’s a nice option to have in your back pocket for when shit does hit the fan, especially with no delivery fees.
Now that I’ve been using DoorDash for a little while, I can say that it really is not so wonderful, and the number of poor experiences I have had while using it is a testament to this.
Grocery orders are the one thing that I haven’t had too much trouble with, surprisingly. There may have been a couple of incidents with the groceries that were irritating at best, but these experiences are nothing compared to the shit we have encountered with the food deliveries.
DoorDash has the option to set up a scheduled delivery, meaning you can order dinner in the morning and select a rough timeframe to have it delivered. Just about every food delivery we have had has been outrageously late, sometimes exceeding an hour. Additionally, most of the meals we have received have been outright wrong, and DoorDash’s customer service is fucking appalling. The greatest extent they have gone to in an attempt to rectify issues is sending me a $2 credit.
Personally, I think DoorDash is one of the worst food courier services in existence.
